Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how the operator of The Printing Max (“we”, “us”) handles personal information when you visit this website or contact us. The Printing Max is an independent educational website about printers. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
You can reach us about anything in this policy through our contact form. Choose “Privacy request” as the topic.
2. Summary
- You can read every guide without creating an account or giving us any personal information.
- If you use the contact form, we receive the details you enter and use them only to deal with your enquiry.
- Like almost every website, our hosting infrastructure processes technical information such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect the site.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, social-media or tracking cookies or scripts.
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
3. Information we collect
Information you give us
When you send a message through our contact form we collect your name, email address, the topic you choose, your message, and the date and time it was sent. Please do not include sensitive information (such as health details, passwords or payment information) in your message.
Information collected automatically
When you visit any web page, your browser sends technical information to the server that delivers it. This normally includes your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, your browser type and version, operating system, and the referring page. Our hosting provider processes this information to deliver the website and may keep it in server or security logs for a limited period.
To protect the contact form from abuse, our server briefly holds the IP address of each submission in memory to limit repeated submissions. It is not stored with your message.
We do not knowingly collect special-category (sensitive) personal information, and we do not use automated decision-making or profiling that has legal or similarly significant effects.
4. How we use information and our legal bases
| Purpose | Information | Legal basis (where UK/EU law applies) |
|---|---|---|
| Reading and replying to your enquiry, correction or request | Contact-form details | Legitimate interests in responding to people who contact us; or taking steps at your request |
| Handling privacy and copyright requests | Contact-form details | Compliance with legal obligations |
| Delivering web pages, keeping the site secure and preventing spam or abuse | Technical information, IP address | Legitimate interests in operating a secure website |
| Improving our guides based on feedback | Contact-form messages | Legitimate interests in keeping our content accurate |
5. Sharing and service providers
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We share it only with:
- Hosting provider — the company that hosts and delivers this website and processes technical information on our behalf.
- Email or form-delivery provider — the service that delivers contact-form messages to our inbox.
- Authorities or professional advisers — where required by law, to respond to legal process, or to establish or defend legal claims.
Our service providers act on our instructions and are only permitted to use personal information to provide their services to us. You can ask us for the names of the providers we currently use.
6. International visitors and transfers
Our website can be visited from anywhere, and our service providers may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where UK or EU data-protection law applies to a transfer, we rely on appropriate safeguards offered by our providers, such as standard contractual clauses or recognised adequacy arrangements.
7. How long we keep information
- Contact-form messages: up to 24 months after our last correspondence with you, then deleted, unless we need to keep them longer to deal with a legal claim or obligation.
- Server and security logs: kept by our hosting provider for a limited period in line with its standard retention settings.
- Rate-limiting data: held in memory for about 10 minutes and never written to the message record.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections when the site is served over HTTPS, restricted access to messages, and spam and abuse protection on the contact form. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you and request a copy;
- ask us to correct inaccurate information or delete it;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it;
- ask for your information in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent;
- complain to your local data-protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office; in the EU/EEA, the supervisory authority in your country.
US state privacy rights. Residents of some US states, including California, have rights to know, access, correct and delete personal information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for targeted advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
To make a request, contact us through our contact form. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.
10. Cookies
This website does not set cookies and does not use similar tracking technologies. See our Cookie Policy for details.
11. Children’s privacy
Our website is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher age). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Links to other websites
Our guides link to other websites, such as printer manufacturers’ official support pages. We are not responsible for their privacy practices; please read their privacy policies.
13. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy if our practices change — for example, before adding analytics or advertising technology — and change the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
